Inrad Optics is looking for focused, detail-oriented, individuals to join our growing team of Coating Technicians. Inrad Optics manufactures precision optics for medical, defense and space applications. Many of our optics require coatings throughout the electromagnetic spectrum. Coating technicians play a vital role in the final step of our production process. No prior experience is required for the position. If you enjoy working with hand tools for woodworking, electronics, or jewelry, this opportunity might be a fit for you!

Key responsibilities

  • Operate optical coating equipment and test instruments
  • Perform coating production and measurement tasks
  • Perform preventative maintenance of vacuum coating chambers, including, bead blasting machine parts and tooling, cleaning and re-foiling the chamber, vapor degreaser
  • Data entry of work performed into maintenance software program
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repair of various production equipment
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Determine if surface quality is fully compliant to a drawing or specification
  • Commitment to ISO procedures and policies

Key requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to handle and manipulate fine, delicate materials or parts
  • Keen attention to detail, thorough in completing work tasks and checking for accuracy along the way
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident as we are a United States controlled information facility
  • Candidates must complete a basic skills assessment
