MirrorsOverview
Employing proprietary single-point diamond machining and optical polishing methods, we produce high quality reflective optics from 5-mm to 1-meter diameter in a wide variety of materials, including:
We also produce a powered optical elements sizes up to 1 meter. Available shapes:
Flatness specifications to 1/20 wave, 1-2 micro-radian slope error, and sub-20A surface roughness are readily achieved with our continuous polishing, diamond turning, and post polishing processes. Available mirrors coating technologies include:
Scan Mirrors
Scan mirrors can be elliptical, oval or a free-form shape up to 1,000 mm in the major axis. We can produce both single- and multi-facet elements. Materials include:
Scan mirrors can be machined with integrated features for:
Inrad’s design-for-manufacturability and machining expertise ensures that all mechanical interfaces conform to tight tolerances that minimize assembly distortion of the finished optic. Beryllium & AlBeMet Mirrors
We precision machine and finish Beryllium and AlBeMet to produce ultra lightweight mirrors. Beryllium offers the highest strength and stiffness-to-weight ratios of nearly any metal alloy available and is uniquely qualified for:
Beryllium additionally exhibits a high thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and an extremely low CTE. AlBeMet is a cost-effective alternative to pure Beryllium. These alloys usually contain 40-62% Beryllium and combines the lightweight strength of BE with the machinability and cost savings of aluminum. Large Optics
Our Florida production facility specializes in large form factor metal optics. With one of the largest high precision diamond turning machines in the industry, we can produce mirrors as large as 1 meter in diameter. Parabolas
Our precision machining and diamond turning operations can produce parabolic surfaces to the most stringent specifications.
Polygons
We manufacture polygons with ranging from 4 to 24 facets. Polygons are produced with a flycutting operation on high-precision, granite-based diamond cutting machines. In addition to straight polygon surfaces, we also produce rastered polygons using precision rotary indexers with sine-plate adjustment. Polygon features and options include:
Aspheric Optics
We diamond turn aspheric optics on bare aluminum, nickel-plated aluminum, beryllium and AlBeMet materials. Aspheric optic features and options include: Assemblies
From electro-optical scanners to telescopes, we specialize in the integrate of metal optics into opto-mechanical assemblies. We operate a wide variety of assembly equipment, allowing us to offer assembly and alignment services that include: Design For Assembly Help Our engineers routinely fine tunes optical designs to ensure that all components can be assembled cost-effectively and without endangering optical performance.
